Huawei is accelerating the launch of its Ascend 960DT AI chip from Q3 to Q1 2027 to compete with Nvidia.
The company is also developing a Peerium Computing Architecture that links hundreds of thousands of AI chips together to function as a giant computer. Huawei's first system based on this architecture, the Atlas 950 SuperCluster, can connect up to 256,000 accelerator cards. Analysts note, however, that the current system with 4,096 chips is significantly smaller than the originally planned 15,488 chips.
Huawei is moving up the launch of its next-generation Ascend 960DT AI chip to the first quarter of 2027, as it races to challenge Nvidia, the company said on Thursday at its Huawei Connect conference.
