Kimi-maker Moonshot AI targets $2B in annual revenue

Chinese AI company Moonshot AI is targeting two billion dollars in annual revenue by year-end—double its August figure.
This is based on the success of their open model K3, released last summer, which generates around 300 billion tokens daily via OpenRouter. While this is much less than what OpenAI and Anthropic earn, it shows there is money to be made from open models. However, Moonshot also faces criticism: Anthropic accused them this week of redirecting nearly 300,000 requests from their own Kimi service directly to Anthropic's Claude to train their models.
One of China's most prominent AI labs, Moonshot AI, believes it can turn its popular open-weight model into serious sales growth.
