Nathan Labenz and Prakash Narayanan examine rapid shifts in technology, diplomacy, and medicine with guests Jeremie and Edouard Harris, Steve Hou, Joel Borgen, and Daniel McKinnon. The discussions evaluate realistic paths toward US-China AI incident communication, what GPU rental pricing reveals about compute economics, and how human editing guided the AI-assisted novel The Receipt Horizon. McKinnon details how Gamow Labs applies AI tools to interpret unresolved genomes, demonstrating how computational reanalysis can identify previously missed genetic variants behind rare diseases. Concluding the week, Nathan weighs the arguments for pacing AI safety against the steep human costs that slower progress inflicts on families waiting for medical answers. Ranveer has had a long-standing relationship with Meta with multiple collaborations over the years and the association marks a significant new chapter for Ray-Ban in India, a brand that has spent generations empowering people to see the world – and themselves – through their own authentic lens combined with Meta’s powerful AI technology to lead a new era of expression. “Ray-Ban has always stood for individuality, and that is something I have connected with for as long as I can remember. Style, for me, has never been about following a fixed formula – it is about instinct, mood and having the freedom to express every version of yourself. A combination of these iconic styles and cutting-edge technology with Ray-Ban Meta, makes this partnership feel so natural.

AI factories are built by the megawatt, even by the gigawatt. Each megawatt factory costs roughly $60 million, and AI factory operators will only commit capital on that scale with a clear view of the return on investment. Three key things shape AI factory returns: Earning capacity: What the factory could earn in a year if it sold every token it can produce. Useful life: How long its AI hardware keeps earning. Demand: How much demand there is for those tokens. Strength cannot fully offset weakness in another. High earning capacity counts for little if the factory sells only part of what it can produce. High demand matters little if it stops producing at full capacity in just a year. Nor are the three independent. A factory that can run more kinds of workloads finds more demand, keeping it earning year after year. NVIDIA AI factories are engineered to maximize all three. They’re: Productive: Delivering the highest throughput per megawatt and the lowest cost per token, which maximizes their earning capacity. Durable: NVIDIA GPUs and systems keep earning years after they ship, extending useful life.

As AI moves beyond the cloud and into robots, vehicles, and other physical systems, new approaches to models, simulation, and inference are emerging. Daniel and Chris are joined by Ming-Yu Liu, Vice President of Cosmos Lab at NVIDIA, who shares his perspective on open models, world models, and the future of physical AI. They explore why open models matter for innovation, how world models can help AI understand and simulate the physical world, and what it could take to build increasingly capable physical AI systems.Featuring: Ming-Yu Liu – LinkedInDaniel Whitenack – Website, GitHub, XChris Benson – Website, LinkedIn, Bluesky, GitHub, XLinks:NVIDIA CosmosSponsors:Midwest AI Summit: Join AI practitioners on October 15 in Indianapolis for practical sessions, hands-on discussions, and real-world AI solutions. A one-line prompt change can ship an agent that tells customers the wrong refund window, and nothing in a normal CI pipeline checks what the model says. This guide builds a fixed eval set for a support agent, a script that exits non-zero below a measured threshold, and a GitHub Actions job that blocks the merge when the pass rate drops.

The cheapest model that clears your quality bar is usually not the model at the top of a leaderboard. This framework sets the bar for one task, measures cost per quality point across a cheap, a mid-tier, and a frontier model on your own examples, and picks the cheapest one that clears the bar with margin. It uses live catalog prices and the cost each OpenRouter response reports.

This guide covers forcing a numeric confidence field with structured outputs, setting the threshold from error rates on your own traffic, tuning it against accuracy, cost, and latency, routing the escalation in your code, and re-tuning it after launch.

However, we were at Anthropic for the Computer Use launch, there for Claude Cowork with the first big podcast on it, organized the first Computer Use track at AIE presenting the state of the art, and were close to the OpenAI-Sky Software acquisition that now powers the complete domination of computer use that Codex enjoys today.
