”I was tired of hidden opt-out links and personal information being wide open. I built a straightforward guide with direct BankID links so anyone can easily take back control of their data.”

The story behind Integritetsguiden — remove your personal data

Why I built it

An acquaintance asked whether I knew how to remove search results about yourself online. Then they asked if I could write a guide. It was the second time in a short while I'd had the same request, so I put together Integritetsguiden.se.

How it's built

No framework overhead: plain semantic HTML, modern CSS and vanilla JavaScript in a standalone application hosted on Cloudflare Workers Static Assets. All checkmarks and progress are saved locally in the visitor's localStorage, so no personal data ever leaves the browser. No external trackers, cookies or heavy libraries. AI served as a fast research partner for mapping search services' current removal processes, EU court judgments and refining the UX.

The hardest part

Search services constantly change their interfaces and move links to make deletion harder. The trickiest part was manually mapping and keeping track of the difference between temporary hiding (such as 30 days on MrKoll versus 12 months on Ratsit) and permanent GDPR deletion. Technically, a lot of care went into a strict Content Security Policy (CSP), flawless semantic accessibility (WCAG) and a performance score of 100 without sacrificing responsive interactivity.

Up next

I'm considering expanding it so people can explore how to protect their privacy further: avoiding tracking, profiling and the mapping of usage patterns.
