”I built VVSdimensionering.se to simplify the way things are done today, which often means switching between different programs, formulas and notes. The aim is to bring the essentials together in one place.”
The story behind HVAC sizing – calculate heating, ventilation and tap water
Why I built it
I was tired of common building services calculations requiring manual work, spreadsheets and several different tools. I wanted to bring sizing for heating, ventilation, domestic water and cooling together in one place and make the results easier to use in real projects.
How it's built
VVS Dimensionering is built as a web-based SaaS service with separate calculation tools for different building services disciplines. The calculation engines use established engineering methods, and results can be saved in projects and exported as PDF documentation.
The hardest part
The hardest part has been getting many different calculation models to work consistently while keeping the interface easy to use. A formula working isn't enough: the results also need to be presented clearly and be usable as supporting material in a project.
Up next
The next step is to keep developing more sizing tools, improve the project workflow and make the service even more useful for consultants, contractors and others working in building services design.
